A little bit about dolphins...

Dolphins are cetaceans that live in basically every ocean on the planet earth. Dolphins range in size from the small hectors dolphins(only about 1.4 meters in length) to the massive killer whale(males are about 20 - 26 feet while females are around 16 - 23 feet in length). Dolphins may be ranked next to humans when it comes to intelligence. Maybe even above us. Dolphins can memorize hand signals just like humans can memorize hand language. The difference is, is that when dolphins are given hand signals, the signal is not used as a language but as a order to do a specific behavior. It is sort of only a one way language. The dolphin can't respond by making a hand gesture back because dolphins have no hands! It's not very fair if you think about it. Dolphins have a unique adaptation called echolocation. Echolocation are a series of sound waves sent from the dolphins melon(looks like their forehead) to help find food and mates. When a dolphin uses echolocation the sound waves travel into the ocean and when they hit an object, the sound waves come back to the dolphin and shows them what object it hit. It's almost like a sound picture. If the object it hit was a school of fish or another pod of dolphins, that dolphin can make its way over in that direction. Not all dolphins live in salt water, in fact, many dolphins live in freshwater rivers around the world. The amazon has many freshwater dolphins that call it home. Such as the amazon river dolphin. Anyways, hope you guys liked my little summary if dolphins!
